Sleeping Adhkar
أذكار النوم
Recite as you settle into bed and prepare to sleep. Make the last thing on your tongue an act of remembrance.
Dhikr 1
Surah al-Ikhlas: Say, He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent. Surah al-Falaq: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak from the evil of what He has created, and from the evil of darkness when it settles, and from the evil of the blowers in knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies. Surah an-Nas: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the Sovereign of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the retreating whisperer who whispers in the breasts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind. Method: Recite the three surahs, then blow lightly into the cupped palms and wipe over the body, beginning with the head and face and the front of the body. Repeat the entire sequence three times.

Dhikr 2
Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Self-Sustaining. Neither slumber overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Magnificent.
Benefit: Whoever recites it before sleeping has a guardian from Allah and no devil approaches him until morning.

Dhikr 3
The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers. We make no distinction between any of His messengers. And they say: We hear and we obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the destination. Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. It will have the consequence of what good it has earned, and it will bear the consequence of what evil it has earned. Our Lord, do not take us to account if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not lay on us a burden like You laid on those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against the disbelieving people.
Benefit: Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.

Dhikr 6
O Allah, I have submitted my soul to You, entrusted my affair to You, turned my face to You, and laid my back upon You, in hope of You and in fear of You. There is no refuge or escape from You except in You. I believe in Your Book that You sent down and in Your Prophet whom You sent.
Benefit: Whoever says this and dies that night dies upon the natural disposition (fitrah). Make it the last thing you say before sleep.

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens, Lord of the Mighty Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, Splitter of the seed and the kernel, Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Furqan, I take refuge in You from the evil of every creature whose forelock You hold. O Allah, You are the First, before whom there is nothing; You are the Last, after whom there is nothing; You are the Manifest, above whom there is nothing; You are the Hidden, beneath whom there is nothing. Settle our debts for us and enrich us from poverty.
